Quadstick: Config Manager has no app accounts and no advertising. It runs on your computer and works with the profile files you choose. The app does not sell your information. Profile contents stay on your computer and, if you choose Drive backup, in your Google Drive. A sheet you explicitly share by link can also be viewed by anyone who has that link.
What the app can send, and when
These app features use the network when you choose them. Core profile editing does not need an internet connection.
Google Sheets and Drive. When you paste a Sheets link, the app fetches that sheet. When you turn on Google Drive backup, it saves your profiles to your own Drive under your own account. If you choose Share as a Google Sheet, the app asks before changing access; confirming makes that sheet viewable to anyone who has its link. The link is then copied to your clipboard for you to share. Do not share a profile this way if it contains information you do not want link holders to see.
The community profile list. The first time you open Community profiles, or whenever there is no usable saved copy, the app asks quadstick.com for the shared list of game profiles. Later opens use the saved copy; Refresh asks again. The request carries no profile contents, and the last list is saved on your computer so the window can still open without internet.
Update check. When you ask the app to check for updates, it requests the latest public release information from GitHub. It does not download or install anything; it opens the release page in your browser if an update is available.
Usage data, off unless you turn it on. The first time you open the app it asks. If you say yes, it sends a small event when the app opens, when a profile is opened or saved, when installing to a QuadStick is tried and whether that worked, and when one of the optional features is used. Events include your operating system, app version, a random install ID, and whether the app is a debug build. Some events also identify the profile source (for example, Files, Drive, Sheets, or Community), the install-failure category, or the optional feature used. A successful install also carries how many seconds passed since that profile was opened, and a profile opened from the online library carries its game, as the library names it. A profile you made yourself carries no game. While this is on, those events are sent as they happen. You can turn it off any time in Settings, under Advanced.
Crash reports, one at a time. If the app crashes it saves a report on your computer and sends nothing. The next time you open the app it shows you that report and asks. Nothing leaves your computer unless you press Send.
What is never sent
Usage telemetry and crash reports do not include your profiles or their contents, file names or paths, Google account, tokens, sheet IDs, or share links. Text you type is not included in telemetry or crash reports. Feedback text is sent only when you press Send. A Sheets link is used only for the import you request; a profile you explicitly share as a Google Sheet is accessible to anyone who has its link, as described above. Your name, user name, and computer name are not sent in telemetry. A crash report carries the error type and the list of functions it happened in, never the error message, because a message can quote your own data back.
The install ID
A random identifier made once and stored on your computer. It is not derived from anything about you or your machine, and it is only made when you first turn usage data on or press Send on a crash report. It exists so that a count of installs is a real number rather than a count of launches, and so a deletion request can find your data. You can see it and copy it in Settings, under Advanced.
Who processes it
Usage data and crash reports are processed by PostHog on servers in the United States. Telemetry and crash-report requests include the reporting library name and version, the .NET and operating system versions, and whether the processor is Intel or ARM. They tell PostHog not to derive a location from your IP address. These details describe app telemetry requests, not requests to Google or quadstick.com. If you are outside the United States, this means the data is stored outside your country.
Turning it off
Settings, then Advanced. Turning off usage data stops it immediately. Turning off crash reports also deletes any report waiting on your computer, and so does resetting settings.
Setting QSCM_TELEMETRY=0 before the app starts disables usage telemetry and crash-report sending, and suppresses the consent prompt. It does not disable network features you start yourself, such as Google Drive, Community profiles, or the manual update check. A crash still writes its report on your computer. Builds from source do not include the telemetry project token, so usage telemetry is off; the other network features remain available when configured and requested.
Deleting your data
To request deletion of telemetry associated with your install ID, contact the developer through the issue link below and include the ID. The developer will handle the request manually; this app does not provide an automatic deletion control.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing beyond what is described above, and only after someone has said yes.
